PLANTS | PEOPLE | PLACE
The creation of a hybrid vegetative typology, a resilient landscape that is influenced or seeded by the local community, both plants and people, to create a new distinction of place.
Blown from the north - The new Kings Wood - Kensal Cemetery
Carried from the South - The Tamed Exotic - a natural identity that stems from the locality and its cultures, a piece of the homeland to the Grove.

“On a Saturday evening January 16th 1841 there was a great flood in Brentford due to heavy rain and ice thawing. The banks of the River Brent and the canal lock gates burst”
The Brentford Project sits at a juncture between high street, river and canal, a layered landscape not just in topographical divergence but in history and event. A palimpsest of industrious people linked to waterside and the productive market garden landscapes beyond.
Our installation connects street to dock, painting the street blue signalling change, a new terrain of activity for Catherine Wheel Yard.
